Cultural Educational and Scientific Relations

Events like cultural days, exhibition shows and cultural performances tend to become frequent between the two countries. For instance, Morin Khuur /Horse Head Fiddle/ Ensemble and folk ensemble have visited a number of Canadian cities with performances in 2002 and 2004 respectively. Canadian Cultural days were organized in Ulaanbaatar for the first time in 2005 with Canadian aboriginal citizens Inuit’s handicraft exhibition and piano concert. Joint concert of performers of two countries have been also organized. Mongolian photo-picture exhibition was offered in the cities of Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax.
Direct relationship and cooperation between universities, research and scientific organizations is developing in recent years. Cooperation ties have been established between York University of Toronto and Mongolian National University, University of Calgary and University of Science and Technology of Mongolia, Saskatchewan and Saint Marie Universities and University of Agriculture and University of Science and Technology of Mongolia. In order to make Mongolia known by Canadians, series of lectures have been initiated jointly with the Institute of Asian Research of the University of British Columbia since 2005.
Joint efforts have been made with Canadian Teachers Association to improve professional skills of Mongolian teachers and write English textbook for Mongolian secondary school students.
